Privacy policy

The short version
The calculators run in your browser and the measurements you type are never sent to us. The only time we receive your name or email is if you send us a message through the contact form or by email.
What stays on your device
- Your measurements are kept in the page address (the URL) so you can bookmark or share a result. They only leave your device if you share that link.
- Your country choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. You can clear it in your browser settings at any time.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see which pages and calculators are used, and from which countries. It collects information such as pages viewed, device and browser type, and approximate location. Our own calculator events record only which calculator, country setting and unit system were used, never your measurements.
For visitors in the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are off by default and are only set if you agree through our consent message.
Advertising
We may show ads served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads at Google Ad Settings, and read how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Fonts
Our typeface, Barlow, is served from our own site, so loading a page doesn't contact any font service.
Photos
Some guides show photos from Unsplash, loaded from Unsplash's image servers. As with any image from another site, your browser sends Unsplash your IP address and the page address when it loads them. Unsplash describes how it handles this in its privacy policy. Our diagrams are drawn on the page and contact no one.
Contact form
When you use our contact form, the name, email address, topic, page link and message you enter are sent through FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a form-delivery service, to our email inbox, which is hosted by Google. We use them only to read and reply to your message. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your details with anyone else. We delete messages once they're dealt with and no longer needed; to have yours deleted sooner, ask us at the address below.
Embedded calculators
The calculators other websites embed from us show no ads, set no cookies and send us nothing about their visitors.
Affiliate links
Some links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. They are labelled where they appear. The retailer, not us, handles anything you buy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Unless you've written to us, we hold nothing that identifies you; analytics and advertising data is held by Google under its own policies. Ask us anything about this at the address below.
